Red transparent plastic loose

So I wanted to leave some feedback here for the engineering samples I just received (indigogo backer).

While opening the case the insert the battery, the red transparent plastic fell out right away. I was not near the red glass nor I applied pressure there. The second sample I opened the red transparent plastic was still on place but when I checked it was quite loose, and that was because only one side was still glued. Both samples had glue dots on both sides*

So I recon the glue or the gluing process is not that solid, yet.
Also one of the beacons I have a bit of glue was found on the outside, through the edge of the red transparent plastic, but that was easily scraped off.

---

Also, this might be my own stupidness, but the CR battery holder having lips of plastic on one side and from bendable metal on the other side got me confused for a bit. The first beacon I inserted the battery I hooked the battery under the plastic lips and then applied pressure to insert. But apparently it was the wrong order as the metal lip was now bend down, not allowing the battery stay in place. I have seen some different CR battery holders out there, but this is the first where a person/user is able to do it wrong.

Re: Red transparent plastic loose

We are sorry that you have received samples with some minor faults. Though we have a thorough quality control in place, the glue might not have been the best in your case. Let us know if we can help in any way.

Regarding the battery holder, unfortunately most holders that fit our casing are based essentially on the same design, so most likely we will stick to a similar one (though not exactly the same) for the coming revisions.

Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming!

Re: Red transparent plastic loose

I second the glue issue, mine also seems to be only glued at one end of the red plastic, things are quite loose when opened, however sturdy enough when the case is closed

Re: Red transparent plastic loose

Oh yea, once assembled it is sturdy enough to stay on place, with or without glue.
The only issue is that when people want to add/change the battery and they open the case it can fall out.

They might extend the red plastic a bit on both sides (that will fall behind the case, out of sight) with a small hole in it. And on the case a small plastic pin, and let the red plastic fall into these pins and glue that. However I have no idea how this might work out in production, or if it is even possible to create a single case then.

Still waiting for beta invite for the iOS app, then I can do some real testing in my use cases :3

Re: Red transparent plastic loose

Hello,

I've got exactly the same problem with the red transparent plastic, it fell out right away sad
It's not that a big deal, but it makes the product feel cheap.

Other question, could you give me the reference of the battery please? I didn't find it anywhere.

Thank you.

So, I'm having the same problem with the battery. It doesn't stay there. So what now?
